5. Discussion of the framework

In section 1.3 we listed a number of key elements for the successful design of an adaptive security system: cost, ease of use and effectiveness. We will now discuss how the adaptive security management system framework can help in reducing the costs of development, acquisition and operation of security systems, and how it can assist an organization to protect its assets.

First, a summary will be given of the features of the framework and we will then return to a discussion of the goals we set in the first chapter. In the last paragraph we point out the need for additional efforts that are needed to come to interoperable and reliable open security packages.
