A Framework for Adaptive Security Management Systems

Abstract

The security requirements of an organization have both technical and economical aspects. We argue that a comprehensive solution to simultaneously address the various problems can only be attained through standardization of security components. Together these components form a dynamic security management system; a model is described that can act as a framework for the standardization. Examples of how the modules can interact to provide a number of security services support this approach. No security solution can provide 100% safety; apart from its features, we therefore also discuss the potential vulnerabilities that the model may induce.
